Adventure Training

 The purpose of Adventure Training in the ATC is to encourage and foster the development of character, leadership, initiative and physical qualities among cadets.

Activities include:

  • Hillwalking. Endurance tests such as the West Highland Way, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expeditions and climbs of named hills, such as Ben Arthur.

  • Nijmegen. Representatives from the squadron have joined the Wing team to participate in the Nijmegen marches. This annual event held in Nijmegen, Holland draws thousands of people who walk 100 miles in just 4 days!

  • Escape and Evasion Exercises. Otherwise known as "Night Exercises" as they are much more effective in the dark.
  • Initiative Exercises.  Bridging of streams, ravines etc - scaling of obstacles and assault courses.

  • Canoeing, Sailing, Rock Climbing, Caving, Skiing, Snorkelling, etc.
