Dining In Night
The squadron held it's annual dining in night and MacPherson awards on Saturday the 16th of November 2013. The event was held at the Watermill hotel and was attending by cadets, staff , parents and guests from other squadrons. Thank you to everyone who came and congratulations to the trophy winners and all the cadets for their achievements over the year.
Staff Training Course 21
FS Adam and Sgt Rae successfully passed out from the Wings' Staff Training Course. They underwent an intense training course covering Health & Safety, Leadership, Drill, Instructional Technique, The ATC & RAF. Both will now go on to be staff cadets with the squadron after successfully passing the written test and syndicate presentation.
The squadron held a Hallowe'en party where all members of the squadron dressed up to take part in pumpkin carving, dookin' for apples and eating lots of sweets and cake. Thanks to FS Adam and Sgt Rae for organising the night.
Clay Target Shooting
3 members of the squadron, Cdt Patton, Cdt Ritchie and Cdt Anderson tried Clay target Shooting with the Air Cadets for the first time at Dechmont Ranges on Saturday the 26th of October. The cadets shot 25 targets each under supervision from 2 fully qualified CPSA coaches. They all did well and had a great time. 7 cadets from the squadron joined others from across West Scotland Wing for a skills camp over the weekend 11th - 13th of October. Cdt Rae (pictured) achieved an Activity First Aid badge, Cpl Prele completed a Youth Fist Aid, Cpl Cunningham a H&S Entry Level Award, Sgt Rae a Risk Assessors Course, Cdt Sheaer a National Navigation award, CWO Mckenzie took part in a Sports Leaders course and FS Adam canoeing and kayaking. Lord Lieutenant's Cadet
Congratulations to Cadet Flight Sergeant Jennifer Adam who has been appointed the Lord Lieutenant's cadet for Renfrewshire. Mr Guy Clark, the Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire visited the squadron on Wednesday the 9th of October, where he presented Jenni with her certificate and Badge. Congratulations Jenni. On Sunday the 18th of August, cadets from 2175 (Rolls-Royce), 1740 (Clydebank) and 32F (1st Glasgow) acted as stewards at the University of Glasgow's' "Cycle Glasgow". Cadets lined the route, providing information to participants and members of the public as well as providing a communication link to the organisers in case of punctures and first aid and providing some much needed encouragement!
CWO Claire McKenzie got the chance to escort air cadets from various countries on their International Air Cadet Exchange trip to the United Kingdom during the last 2 weeks of July. Claire had participated in the exchange to Canada last year so relished the opportunity to repay the hospitality she enjoyed. Read about her trip in our newsletter...
Hong Kong Exchange
FS Jenni Adam visited Hong Kong on the International Air Cadet Exchange in July. She joined air cadets from all over the world on a once in a lifetime trip, experiencing the different culture, people and food. Read about her trip here...

On the 14th of July the squadron held a BBQ to welcome 2 new recruits and to catch up on the camps we've been to. FS Gladwell smoked ribs and pork for hours, as well as making the usual burgers and hot dogs. We also had a water fight, and got to throw water balloons at the staff and NCOs.
Armed Forces Day
Cadets from the Renfrewshire squadrons, including ourselves, attended a church parade on the 22nd of June to thank our armed forces ahead of Armed Forces Day.
Clay Target Refereeing
Cadets from the squadron along with cadets from around the Wing helped the Wing Clay Target team referee the Scottish National Clay target Championships in Dalry, Ayrshire on the 26th of May. Our story was printed in the latest Air Cadet Magazine and the official Air Cadets Website along with this picture of Cdt Shearer!
On the 19th of May 8 cadets from the squadron joined others from West Scotland Wing to compete in the annual Wing Athletics Competition. We won 4 medals in total, congratulations to Cpl Rae, Cdt Prele and Cdt McEwan and well done to all those who took part.
We were invited to a Fieldcraft camp run by our friends at 2414 (East Kilbride) squadron over the weekend of the 10th - 12th of May. We took part in camouflage and concealment, field cooking, movements, signalling and leadership exercises. thank you 2414!
Cadets from the squadron along with cadets from 32F (1st Glasgow), 1701 (Johnstone) and 2414 (East Kilbride) hiked through Callander on the 13th and 14th of April. This was part of our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Cadets Prele and McEwan completed their qualifying hike whilst Cdt Davison completed his practice.
Cadets and staff from 2175 were inspected by West Scotland Wing Commander Haley at our annual formal inspection on the 3rd of April. The Wing Commander was impressed by our turnout and drill. We got the chance to talk to him and ask questions about the oppertunities in the Air Cadets and what the future might hold.
On the 30th of January 3 cadets were presented with some prestigious awards. Cpl Adam achieved an ILM in Leadership and Team Management, CWO McKenzie received her Appointment as Cadet Warrant Officer, the highest rank a cadet can achieve and Sgt Hewitt received his BTEC in Aviation Studies.
